It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anne Abbondondolo, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, who left us peacefully at the age of 89 on September 18, 2024. Born in Great Neck, Anne embraced life with warmth and joy, eventually moving to Glen Cove, where she raised her cherished family of three.
A devoted mother, Anne poured her heart into nurturing her children, instilling in them values of love, kindness, and resilience. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the comforting sounds of the television or radio in the background.
Known for her unwavering enthusiasm for soap operas and game shows, "Grandma Annie" always had her door open to others. She enjoyed a nice relaxing day chatting with company and watching TV with her loved ones. She even was able to check off a bucket list dream- go to a live The Price Is Right event.
Beyond her television time, Anne was known for making her famous meatballs. She claimed the secret to the delicious dish was rolling them with her left hand. We have no doubt that each batch was also made with a lot of love.
Above all, Anne treasured moments spent with family. Whether it be a birthday outing to Red Lobster or a big dinner around the table during the holiday season, Anne adored quality family time and creating lasting memories. She never left a room without telling you out loud how much you were loved.
Anne is predeceased by her husband Gus, daughter Dianne, sister Dot, and is survived by her brother Warren (Debbie) and her two sons, John (Marie) and James (Patty). Loving grandmother to Kimberly, Lauren, Sara, Peter (Danielle) and Michael (Sami)... who were her pride and joy. Before her passing, she briefly enjoyed being a great grandmother to Cameron, son of Peter and Danielle. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, along with her good friend Tommy, who was like another son to her. Anne's spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will remember her for her kindness, laughter, and the countless ways she made life brighter.
Anne will be deeply missed, and would want those who knew her to know how much she loved them. That love and kindness will be forever cherished.
