Emblem

Anthony Joseph Bretone, born in 1925 in Jackson Heights, passed away peacefully at the age of 99. Anthony proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army, dedicating two years of his life to the service of his nation. His time in Europe took him to Italy, France, and Germany, where he made lasting contributions to the war effort.

After his honorable service, Anthony returned home and married the love of his life, Lillian. Together, they shared 66 years of deep love, companionship, and friendship. Sadly, Anthony was predeceased by his wife Lillian and their son, Ronald Bretone.

Anthony is survived by his son, Anthony John Bretone (Debra), who carries forward his father’s legacy of resilience, strength, and love. Known for his passion for gardening—a cherished hobby passed down from his parents—Anthony found peace and joy in tending to his garden for many years.

A devoted employee of Willets Road School for over three decades, Anthony worked diligently and with pride, continuing to serve the school community well into his late 90s. His hard work, dedication, and friendly nature left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

A burial will take place at Calverton National Cemetery on Monday, March 10th, 2025 at 2 PM, where Anthony will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife, Lillian.

In honor of his life and service, donations can be made to t2t.org.

Anthony will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
