Carmela Casale

Carmela Casale of Greenvale, NY, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2022, at the blessed age of 98 years old. Carmela was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 27, 1923, to Italian immigrant parents, Diana and John Valeo. She was the youngest of three children, Dominick Valeo (deceased) and Thomas (Marie) Valeo (deceased). She married her adoring husband of 61 years, Carmelo (“Charlie”) Casale, on February 1, 1959, and had two loving daughters, Valerie (Thomas) Rowe and Andrea (Ralph) Cipriani. She leaves six cherished grandchildren, Jillian (Frank) Scarfo, Christopher (Michaila Stevens) Rowe, Zachary Rowe, Luke, Andrew and Matthew Cipriani, and her precious great grandson, Logan Scarfo. Carmela was the quintessential wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved growing plants, crochet, and going to the gym (which she did until she was 96 and COVID closed her gym). Most of all she loved being with family and friends. She was always ready to go shopping, have visitors or go out to dinner. She will be missed by all who knew her kindness and love over these 98+ years. If success is to leave the world a little better than you found it, then she was truly a smashing success! We will celebrate her life on Monday, June 13, 2022. Private interment will take place the next day, June 14, 2022 The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make donations to Dress for Success, a global nonprofit organization that provides professional attire for low-income women to help support their job-search and interview process.
