Caroline Allario, 85, of Glen Head, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Born July 16, 1936, and raised in the greater Detroit area, Caroline (Connie) was the daughter of the late George and Ana Stevens. She spent her summers vacationing with her parents, sister, and friends in Belle Isle and "Up North" in Michigan. Caroline was a high school graduate of St. Anthony's High School in Detroit and played on the girls' basketball team and worked after school at several local retail stores, including a soda fountain shop and candy store.
Upon graduation, Caroline worked as a research librarian clerk for Chrysler Missile, a subsidiary of The Chrysler Corporation, where she met her future husband, Joseph Allario. Caroline and Joe were married at St. Sebastian's Church in Woodside, NY in 1962.
Joe and Caroline lived in Astoria, NY, for several years and then moved to Glen Head, NY in 1969, where they raised their two sons. Caroline had a career as an Administrative Assistant and Research Library Assistant at North Shore High School, Locust Valley High School, the Manhasset Public Library, and at the Association of Advertising Agencies of America (4A's Company), New York, NY, where she retired in 1998.
Caroline was an avid gardener, cross-country skier, and enjoyed painting and dancing with her husband. Caroline received her Certificate in Interior Design in 2005 from CW Post and worked briefly for an Interior Design shop in Locust Valley. Caroline was an excellent bowler and helped her Syosset Lanes team win several bowling tournaments. She received several accolades including a high series tournament average of 265.
Caroline enjoyed many special vacations with her family to Southampton, NY, the Maine Coast, and the many Long Island beaches, especially Stehli Beach in Bayville and TOBAY in Massapequa.
In her retirement, Caroline and Joe enjoyed going to the theater and opera in New York City and so loved traveling throughout Europe. Caroline and Joe were members of St. Boniface Martyr Church, Sea Cliff, NY and St. Mary's Church in Roslyn, NY.
Caroline is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph; sons, John Allario (Anne) of Boston, MA; Michael Allario (Michelle) and their three daughters, Haleigh, Isabella (Bella), and Nicole Allario, all of Woodstock, GA. Caroline was predeceased by her sister, Marilyn Zawadzki (Ted). Caroline is also survived by her two nieces, Karen O'Brien (Robert), Kathy Zawadzki, and their families. Calling hours are Monday, August 16, 2021, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 10:00 am at St. Boniface Martyr Church, 145 Glen Avenue, Sea Cliff, NY.
Interment will be at Locust Valley Cemetery, Locust Valley, NY.
