Claire Brescia, a 43 year resident of Glen Head, passed away on Thursday, March 12, following a brief illness.
She was a member of the Golden Ring and St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church. She was a past member of the American Legion Post 336 Auxiliary, Glenwood Landing.
Mrs. Brescia was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Nicholas Brescia.
She leaves a son, Richard Brescia (Joanne) of New Hyde Park, NY, Louie Free (Sharon) of Waverly, GA, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
As a young woman, Mrs. Brescia worked in an Atlanta restaurant where Bob Hope was a regular customer. After returning to NY, Mrs. Brescia dated Montgomery Clift. She worked for several years in the office of Krug's Bakery. After that, she was a full time homemaker and a volunteer at Creedmoor and Glen Cove Hospital.
When her husband Nick retired, they traveled with the Senior Citizens to Hawaii, Canada and down the Mississippi.
For her entire life, Mrs. Brescia was devoted to family. She was one of seven sisters and one brother. Her sister, Marguerite Donaldson survives.
As recently as several months ago, Mrs. Brescia visited her great grandson in Maryland where they were both observed experiencing gales of laughter and delight.
Family always came first.
