Dolores C. O'Hara Dolores C. O'Hara (nee Cunningham), of Roslyn Harbor, NY passed away on October 3, 2021 surrounded by her loving husband Richard and her family. An incredible daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, volunteer, contributing member of the community, Dolores will truly be missed by friends and family far and wide. A proud daughter of the Bronx, Dolores attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine Grammar School and High School followed by Hunter College. She was employed for many years as a Buyer in the garment district. In 1955, she married her sweetheart, Richard O'Hara and ultimately moved to Roslyn Harbor to raise their seven children Cate, Richard (Annemarie), Therese (Glenn), Christopher (Kelly), Ann Marie (James), Mary Ellen and Gerard (Barbara).
Dolores was a devoted member of St. Mary's Church in Roslyn and an avid supporter of Church causes and missions. She was a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound, taught CCD, and was a leader for the PTA at St. Mary's, Our Lady of Mercy and Chaminade. For more than four decades Dolores also shared her time, talent and resources to further the mission of Catholic education and provide scholarship opportunities for the underserved communities on Long Island and abroad. Prior to COVID 19 Dolores was constantly entertaining at her home, most loved when it was with one or more of her twenty three grandchildren: Margaret (Alyssa), Helen, Richard, Sean (Maggie), Erin, Matthew, Ryan (Margaret), Brendan, Christopher, Molly, Caitlin, Elizabeth, Caroline, William, Michaela, Jane, Gillian, Drew, Catherine, Grace, Claire, Annie and Luke. Her love for and pride in her grandchildren were unmatched. Dolores is pre-deceased by her parents, James and Ethel and her loving sister Lorraine Buckland. Her family is receiving friends on Thursday, October 7th from 4-8 PM and Friday October 8th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Whitting Funeral Home 300 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head, NY. Funeral Mass to be held on Saturday October 9th, 11 AM at St. Mary's Church Roslyn Harbor, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to St. Francis Breadline, 144 West 32nd St. New York, NY or to Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset NY.
