Dawson, Donald Bruce age 72, died on May 11, 2020 at Glen Cove Northwell hospital in Glen Cove, NY. He was born January 25, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY to Robert and Rita (McEvoy) Dawson. After graduating from Regis High School in Manhattan, he attended Siena College in Loudonville, NY where he received a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and French.
Don was a U.S. Army veteran and served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Intelligence division during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to New York, he began his career at the New York State Office of Professional Discipline, ultimately rising to Director of Investigations before retiring in June of 2019. Don's razor-sharp wit and dry sense of humor always brought smiles and laughter to those around him. He was an avid sports fan and some of his favorite moments were spent watching his beloved NY Mets and Rangers with his daughter Shannon. He was a devout parishioner of St. Mary's, R.C. church in Roslyn, NY and an active member and past Grand Knight of the John W. Mackay Council of the Knights of Columbus He is survived by his loving wife of almost thirty years, Moira, daughter Shannon, brother Robert, sister- in- law Charlene, nephews Colin, Sean, Robert, Patrick, Garrett, Will, Liam, Luke and nieces Erin, Moira, Meghan, Charlotte, Caroline and Grace.
