Donnie was born at Glen Cove hospital to Phillip and Vera Ellison On October 29, 1942 and raised in Bayville New York. He graduated Saint Dominic's high school In 1960 and went on to graduate from Manhattan college with an electrical engineers degree. He worked for Grumman Right out of college and went on to work for numerous companies and ending his career working with con Edison. He may have had an electrical engineer in degree but there wasn't much that he couldn't fix. From washers and dryer's to carsAnd anything in between. He joined the city of Glen Cove volunteer fire department and was assigned to engine and hose company number four in 1969 and rose through the ranks of second lieutenant to first Lieutenant and in 1974 he achieved the rank of captain. He is a past president of the north shore fire Council and the Nassau county Firemans association. He truly cherished every moment he spent And every friendship he made through the fire department. There was always a glimmer in his eye when he was around or talking about the fire house. He is survived by his wife Arline Ellison nee Mahon Of Glen Cove of 53 years. His children Joy Siragusa(Rich DeLuca), James Ellison (Christine) and Joline Ahrens(Keith). His sister Linea(Suzy) Scovil and brother Harold Ellison. His seven grandchildren Gabrielle, Ryan, Stefania, Christopher, Jaclyn, Jillian, and Zander. His nieces Denise and Emily and nephew Michael. He is preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Vieyra, brother Edwin(Buddy), And niece Lynn. Donnie was a true family man he made every moment with his family account. Whether it was traveling to see family in Pennsylvania or to Arizona he would've jam packed the itinerary to make sure the family could get the most out of where they were. He live to make sure that his wife, Children, and grandchildren we're always happy and safe. Even if that family was far away. There is always that one person that is the glue that holds people together and that was Donnie. He will certainly be missed but we are sure wherever he is he is practicing the Scott air pack event with Gil Tonaka And fixing anything he can get his hands on. In Lieu of flowers We ask that you make a donation in Donnie's name to the Nassau county Firemans association scholarship fund C/O Tony Tripp 63 Frost pond Road Glen Cove NY 11542 or to good Shepherd hospice in Rockville Center, New York. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the City of Glen Cove volunteer fire department, good Shepherd hospice in Rockville Center, New York and all of our friends and family who have reached out to us in this difficult time
