He was survived by his four children, Lucie (Stephen), Danielle (John), Paul (Diane), and Katherine (Joseph), his grandchildren, Jean-Paul, Michelle (Corey), Keith, and Johnny (Allie), and his great grandchildren, Carter and Scarlett. He was preceded by his parents, Philip and Dorothy, his wife, Patricia, his long-time companion, Jean, his son-in-law, Keith, his grandson, Kurt, and his life-long friend, Corny.
Donald was a devoted son and loving father, a talented pianist, an artist, an avid reader, a writer, an investor, and loved to sail and ski. He enjoyed travel, gourmet cooking, and eating great food. He graduated from Sea Cliff High School, Tufts University, and Columbia University, where he received highest honors and the key to the school. Donald was a patriot and loved this country, serving both in the Navy and the Army.
Donald was humble, kind, and always expressed concern for others. He was happy in a pair of old jeans and a t-shirt, watching the news, or reading a book or the Wall Street Journal, then meeting with friends to discuss the news of the day. His thoughtfulness was one of his many fine qualities that was always felt by his family, relatives, and life-long friends, who he loved spending time with. He left behind many wonderful and fond memories of those times spent together. He was brave and heroically battled cancer and many other adversities without complaint. He was a man of courage with a heart of a lion. He will be greatly missed, but will live on in the hearts and memories of those who love him.
