Dr. Elizabeth Reddan Franck (Lisa), 60, passed away suddenly on December 10, 2022, in San Francisco, CA. She is survived by her loving parents, Ellen and Ernest Franck and her beloved long-term partner Robert Colburn. She is mourned by her sisters, Gail Franck and her husband Stephen Teager, Margaret McCreery and her husband James McCreery, and Carol Franck and her husband Leon Sawyko. She also leaves behind her nieces, Elise Franck and Grace Sawyko, and Kyra and Evelyn McCreery. Her loss will be mourned by many cousins and friends on both coasts.
Lisa was born and grew up in Sea Cliff, NY. She graduated from North Shore High School, earned her bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, and her MD from Albany Medical College. She did her internship and residency in Albany and at the University of California – San Francisco. Lisa devoted her medical career to those less fortunate. She worked in the inner city with East Bay Family Practice and served native peoples by working with Sonoma County Indian Health Project in Santa Rosa, CA. In the latter part of her career, she moved towards research at University of California – San Francisco.
Lisa was adventurous, fun loving, and empathetic. She loved the outdoors – camping, sailing, hiking, and skiing. She loved to travel, exploring near and far. She loved Santa Cruz and the Santa Cruz Mountains. She knew all the parks and trails in the Bay area as well as the waters and mountains of Thailand, Nepal, and Peru. She enjoyed everything from parades to live music and theater and could fill a day with fun from sunrise to sunset. And she was a lifelong learner, never without something to read. She was kind and thoughtful. Lisa battled with mental health issues and alcoholism for much of her adult life and was especially supportive of others in similar circumstances.
