It is with great sadness the Sheridan family announces the passing of Farrell A. Sheridan. He is survived by his two sons Farrell J. Sheridan (Wife, Terry) and Shawn W. Sheridan (Wife, Wendy). He was a beloved husband to his late wife Katherine, Father, and Grandfather (Poppy) to all of his 6 grandchildren; Kyle, Erin, Kevin, Mckenzie, Isabelle, and Shawn Jr.
Farrell was a strong willed, dedicated man. Many that knew him would always say he was one of the hardest and toughest workers they’ve ever known. He was a self made businessman in Glen Cove, NY for over 50 years of his adult life with ‘Genovese & Sheridan’ and then later ‘Tank Specialist’. He started his career from nothing and made it into a very successful family ran business. His wife and two sons all helped and worked for ‘Tank Specialist’ throughout the years. His hard work ethic and business tactics were fortunately passed down to both his sons who will continue to make him proud.
Although he was very well known for his tough exterior and boss man attitude, he was a very loving grandfather. He may not have been good with changing diapers or bottles but he showed his 6 grandchildren love in other ways. There was nothing he loved more than being around his family, especially after the loss of his wife Kathy (Nana). He would often call up each of the kids to check in, he enjoyed all of our crazy stories and our life updates. He was so proud of each of us. Just this past Christmas (2022) our family all came together to decorate Farrell’s house for him. He explained to us that he wanted to “do it big” this Christmas, so that’s just what we did for him and he couldn’t have been happier. Just last month in February, Farrell attended his eldest grand daughter Erin’s wedding where he was able to see all of his family and friends and even share his last dance with her. All of us were so honored to have been able to call him our Poppy.
Farrell will be dearly missed, and he will continue to live on in our hearts as long as we live. We will never forget all of the beautiful memories, and we all were very lucky to have known him. He is reunited with the love of his life, his wife Katherine. May perpetual light shine upon him and he rest in eternal peace.
