It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank Johansen, who left us on November 1, 2024, at the age of 88. Frank was the beloved husband of the late Constance Johansen, with whom he shared a deep and loving marriage for over 60 years. Together, they created a family full of love and laughter, and Frank's legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Frank was a proud father to his four sons, Frank Jr. (Denise), Kevin (Mary), David (JoAnn), and Christopher (Susanne). His life was enriched by the presence of 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, each of whom he adored and cherished. Frank took great joy in being a "Pop Pop," always ready to share his wisdom, a warm hug, and a hearty laugh.
A dedicated public servant, Detective Sergeant Frank served the community for 22 years as a Nassau County Police Officer, where he was respected for his integrity, commitment, and sense of duty. He was proud to protect and serve, making a positive impact on the lives of many during his distinguished career.
In his personal life, Frank had a passion for simple pleasures. Cruising around in his car, enjoying a fine cigar, or hitting the links for a round of golf, Frank was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. His warmth, sense of humor, and generosity will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Frank's family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and the many memories he leaves behind on Friday, November 15th from 4-8PM at Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head NY 11545. A funeral service at the Reformed Church of Locust Valley will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 10AM with a burial at Locust Valley Cemetery to follow.
He was a man who touched countless lives with his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for those close to him. While his physical presence will be missed, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Rest in peace, Pop Pop. You will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Frank's honor to St. Francis Hospital.
