Fred T. Santucci

Retired Appellate Division Supreme Court Justice Fred T. Santucci of Glen Head, New York, passed away at age 89 on Monday, November 20, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family at St. Francis Hospital, Roslyn, New York.

Justice Santucci attended Adelphi College and New York Law School, graduating in 1957. He then practiced law and held positions including Associate Counsel to the State Joint Legislative Committee on Social Services and Chief Counsel to the State Constitutional Convention. In 1974, Justice Santucci was elected to the New York City Civil Court where he served until 1978. He was then elected to the Queens County Supreme Court in 1979, where he was Presiding Justice of the Medical Malpractice Part. He was designated to the Appellate Term in 1988 and to the Appellate Division, Second Department in 1992. In 2010, Justice Santucci retired from the bench, having reached the mandatory retirement age of 76. In January 2011, Justice Santucci was then appointed as Executive Director for the Committee on Character and Fitness for the Appellate Division, Second Department where he served for an additional 5 years.

Justice Santucci is predeceased by his wife Ruth and survived by his long-time partner Carol and 4 children, Patricia (Ronald), Fred, Michael (Tara) and Lisa (Paul) and 7 grandchildren, Michael, Brynn, Alexandra, Nicole, Olivia, Lauren and Michael. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
