Gary John Martin

d. March 9, 2025

Gary J. Martin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and designer of residential landscapes on Long Island for more than 40 years, died on March 9 at the Regency Senior Living Center in Glen Cove, NY, following a prolonged battle with frontotemporal dementia. He was 75.

From the 1970s to the 2010s, Mr. Martin worked with homeowners, landscape architects, and subcontractors to create award-winning outdoor spaces. For a number of years, Ireland-Gannon Associates was contracted to produce the annual flower show at Macy’s Herald Square in Manhattan. Mr. Martin helped to coordinate this work and was responsible for executing three of the elaborate window displays on Broadway.

Mr. Martin lived in Hempstead, NY for most of his life, from early childhood until 1995, when he remarried and moved to Sea Cliff, NY. He enjoyed gardening, gourmet cooking, traveling, storytelling, and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Brzozowski, sons Tim and Jason Martin, daughter-in-law Aileen Torres Martin, grandchildren Lucia and Patrick Martin, brother Bruce Martin, sister Maureen Hartenfels, first wife Cynthia Koerber, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard and sisters Gail and Carol.
