George William Christman

Christman, George W. Jr of Sea Cliff, NY passed away on February 2, 2018 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of the late Peggy and loving father of George, III (Donna) and Gary (Kathleen). Cherished grandfather of Ashley, Matthew, Kevin and Jessie. Commonly known as "The Walrus" because of his signature mustache, George was a proud member of the United States Coast Guard. He served in WWII as a patrol frigate sailor and he was an active member of the American Legion. George's passion through life was sailing and boating. He was a member of the Sea Cliff Yacht Club since 1949 and was Commodore from 1989-1991. He was a member of the exclusive Storm Trysail Club since 1973 and was active in yacht racing with the L.I. Yacht Racing Association. He was one of the founders of the Around Long Island Regatta and did numerous Chicago Mackinaw and Newport Bermuda races. You could always see him out on the water on his beloved "Tug".
