Gloria M Johanson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria Mildred Johanson, who passed away peacefully in Glen Cove, NY, on February 10, 2025, at the age of 99. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Gloria lived a life of simplicity, finding joy in the little things and cherishing the relationships that mattered most. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Gloria was predeceased by her loving husband, August “Bill” William Johanson, with whom she shared 56 years of deep love, friendship, and partnership. Together, they built a home filled with warmth and care. She is survived by her two children, Eric (Marie Hawkins) Johanson and Ellen (John) Blanchard. Gloria was the proud grandmother of Zooey (David), Ian, and Rylan, and the cherished great-grandmother to Felix and Ren.

A Memorial Funeral Service to honor Gloria’s life will be held on Monday, February 24th, at 10:00 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Glen Head, NY. Following the service, a burial of ashes will take place at Calverton National Cemetery.

In her quiet way, Gloria’s love and gentle spirit touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gloria’s honor to Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 16 Glenwood Rd, Glen Head, NY 11545.
