Harriet A. Gasparri

January 17, 1929 — January 7, 2025

Harriet Alma Gasparri, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on January 7, 2025. Born in Astoria, Queens, she lived a full and vibrant life, always surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Harriet was predeceased by her devoted husband, Amerigo Gasparri. She is survived by her five children: Barbara (David) Bugen, Susan Golding, Debbie (Rich) Sturm, Ricky Gasparri, and Robert (Abby) Gasparri. Harriet was the cherished grandmother to Adriana, Sarah (James), Aaron, Chandler, and Marta, who brought immense joy and pride to her life.

Throughout her life, Harriet found great joy in the simple pleasures, from reading to cooking for her family and listening to her favorite music, particularly the timeless voice of Andrea Bocelli. But perhaps her greatest pride and accomplishment was The Bookshop, a beloved independent bookstore she owned and managed for over 30 years in Bayside, Queens. Her dedication to the shop and its community left a lasting impact, and it will always remain a testament to her passion for literature and her commitment to her neighborhood.

A private burial will be held at Calverton this week.

In honor of Harriet's generous spirit, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in her name.

Harriet's legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but her warmth, wisdom, and love will remain in our hearts forever.
