Faughnan, John B died May 12, 2024 – in Wichita, Kansas; long-time resident of Locust Valley, NY. devoted husband of the late Beth Seibold, father of John, Brian (Miriam), Beth, Joe (Mary), and Mary (Clay) Lyddane. Adoring grandda of Liz & Grace, Bridget, John, Mike & Catie, Caroline, Seaver & Delia, and Brianna.

Licensed Professional Engineer 63+ years; Retired Deputy Commissioner, Nassau County Department of Public Works. Member, Locust Valley Rotary & Paul Harris Fellow; Member & Past Commander, Howard Van Wagner Post # 962 American Legion; Member, VFW Post # 347, Glen Cove; and Member, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Mike Moran Division 8 Glen Cove.


John was born at home in South Ozone Park, NYC, in 1938, the son of Rose and Bernard Faughnan. A graduate of Bishop Loughlin High School and Manhattan College, he lived a life of service - to his country, his church, and his family. Widowed for 29 years, he appreciated the importance of family. When Brian, Joe and Mary were married, he reveled in the addition of children # 6, 7 and 8 - Clay, Miriam and Mary. When it came to his family, he never missed a birthday or special event. He will be remembered as a bear - fierce, and protective of those he loved, and a teddy bear to his grandchildren.


A wake will be held on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head, NY. A funeral mass will be said on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 11:30am, at St Dominic RC Church, Anstice Street, Oyster Bay, NY.


In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made to Foundation for Prader-Willi Research :
