John C. Zumbrunn, Jr.

JOHN CHRISTIAN ZUMBRUNN JR. (U.J.), age 87 of Mohegan Lake, NY formerly of Glen Cove, NY passed away on April 17, 2023, in Cortlandt Manor, New York.

A private service will be held at St. Rocco’s Church in Glen Cove, NY at on April 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at East Hillside Cemetery, Glen Head, NY.

JOHN CHRISTIAN ZUMBRUNN JR. was born in the Bronx, New York to John Christian Zumbrunn and Bertha Fischbach on January 16th, 1936. He went to high school at Tappen Zee High School in South Orangeburgh, NY. After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corp. for 9 years of service. He went to earn the rank of Sergeant. He additionally was a marksman and rifle instructor. After leaving the Marine Corp., he worked for Local 66 Laborers’ International Union of North America for over 30 years. He enjoyed reading Tom Clancy books, crosswords, and large-scale puzzles.

JOHN CHRISTIAN ZUMBRUNN JR. is survived by his brother Werner and wife Ellen Zumbrunn, nephew and niece Albert J. and wife, Evangelia Zumbrunn, nieces and nephew Alicia Loeffler and Valerie and husband, William Chmela. Also survived by great nieces Marina and Sofia Zumbrunn and great nephew Richard Loeffler Jr. He is preceded in death by his first wife Maria G. Zumbrunn and second wife, Florence Zumbrunn. He is also preceded by his sister Beatrice Stengel and her son Kenneth along with his brother Albert Zumbrunn. He leaves behind great friends and neighbors Frank Jackson and Elisha Longo of Mohegan Lake, New York.
