John Edward Glennon

September 20, 1939 — May 11, 2024

John Edward Glennon, 84, of Sea Cliff, passed away on May 11, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born in Manhattan but spent a lifetime on Long Island. He went to Chaminade High School, Fairfield University, and St. John’s Law School. He was a high achiever and an incredibly hard worker. He was a supportive, loving, kind and generous man who loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Allison M. Benedetti (husband Michael), his son, John J. Glennon (wife Cheri), and his son, Brian E. Glennon (wife Iga). The stars of his universe are his grandchildren: Brendan, Ryan, John, Katie, Brian, Scarlett, and Grant.

John valued community service and spent 43 years involved with the Glenwood Glen Head Jr. Baseball League, many of those years as the League Commissioner. He loved baseball and loved to go down to the fields to watch games. He was a thoughtful leader who shaped and guided the league for several decades. He was an avid boater who spent a lot of time on the water in Manhasset Bay and Hempstead Harbor. John was proud of the time he spent in the US Marines and never missed the Memorial Day Parade.

He will be remembered fondly by his family and friends who will miss him dearly. God Bless John and his family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
