John P. Ansbro

John Patrick Ansbro, 83 of Locust Valley, passed away on August 9th, 2022, in Glen Cove. John is survived by his three sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. John was an electrician by trade for over forty years at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan. He was also a volunteer fireman for several years in Locust Valley, and Captain of the Hook and Ladder for a number of years. He was honorary Santa at Locust Valley tree lighting ceremonies for many years and took great pride in the lighting of the Christmas tree. Anyone who knew Poppy loved his contagious personality and his wit. He will be sorely missed by family and friends who cherished him. Visitation will be held from 2-4pm & 7-9pm Thursday, August 11th at Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head, NY. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00am, Friday, August 12th at St. Dominic's Church, 93 Anstice St., Oyster Bay, NY. Burial to follow at Locust Valley Cemetery. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) in John's name. "May the road rise to meet you, and may the wind be always at your back."
