It is with great sadness we announce the passing into eternal life of Kathleen Jennings (nee McDonnell) on March 20, 2017. Kathleen was married to John T. Jennings for 64 years. Kathleen was a native of Ballinslava, County Mayo, Ireland.
Kathleen was an inspiration to her four children: Marian Hyer, Dr. John Jennings, Edward and Brian Jennings, and Mom-Mom to her fourteen grandchildren: Gary Hyer Jr., Brian Hyer, Katie Hyer, Dr. John D. Jennings., Jason Jennings, Erin Jennings, Tara Jennings, Rachel Jennings, Edward Jennings Jr., Thomas Jennings, Andrew Jennings, Clare Jennings, Mary Kate Jennings and Emily Jennings.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Culligan, Margaret McDonnell, and brothers Edward and Patrick McDonnell. She is survived by brothers John McDonnell and James McDonnell from Ballinslava, County Mayo, Ireland, and by Peter McDonnell from Woodside, NY. Kathleen was a true matriarch, a trusted and dear friend. She had the special knack of bringing joy to everyone she ever met. She loved life; she loved us all.
Visitation will take place at The Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head, NY, 11545. Viewing - Wednesday 3/22 and Thursday 3/23 (2-4pm and 7-9pm).
The Funeral Mass is Friday 3/24/17 at 10am at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2534 Cedar Swamp Rd (Rte. 107), Brookville, NY 11545. Interment at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery in Flushing, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Kathleen's name to: The Church of Christ the King, Knockmore, Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland. May Kathleen rest in peace. Amen.
