It is with profound sadness that the family of Louis D’Ambrosio announces his passing on January 2, 2022, at the age of 76. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Joan (McMahon), affectionately known as “Erin.” Together they built a beautiful life around their children: Ann Marie (Joseph), Louis (Cynthia), and Michael. Lou’s grandchildren — Pamela, Melissa, and Louis Jr. — were the light of his life. Lou was born on July 27, 1945, in Glen Cove, NY to Lena (Capobianco) and Attilio D’Ambrosio. One of seven children, Lou shared a special bond with his sisters and brothers: Marie (Carmine) Cocchiola, the late Philip (Barbara), Joseph (the late Florence), the late Concetta and Denis O’Regan, Frank (Anne), Ann (the late Jim) Cook. Lou was also fond of his in-laws Barbara and Frank Minicozzi, the late Patrick and Carol McMahon, Wendy and the late Bill Quinn, and the late Peter McCabe. He dearly loved all his nieces and nephews. A committed citizen, Lou courageously served his country in Vietnam. His love for his country persisted throughout his life. Lou was also a dedicated member of his local community, serving as Glen Cove Little League President. He was known as an inspirational mentor who offered insight and encouragement to all. Throughout his life, Lou was a faithful member of the churches of St. Patrick and St. Rocco. It is there where he raised his children in the faith. Lou will be so dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will forever be known as an honorable, humble, and charismatic man. In lieu of flowers, consider donations on his name to Wounded Warrior Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate).
