Margaret Niper

d. February 28, 2025

Margaret Ann “Peggy” Niper (nee O’Keefe), 89, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis, Indiana. Margaret (Peggy) was a former resident of Glen Cove, New York. Peggy lived a life of faith, service, and devotion to family.

She was born on October 2nd, 1935, in New York, New York to the late Timothy J. and Dorothy O’Keefe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald L. Niper; her brothers, Joseph T. O’Keefe and James D. O’Keefe; and her sister, Dorothy Schultz. She is survived by her loving children: Catherine Giordano and her husband Thomas Giordano; Thomas Niper and his wife Dianne Niper; and James Niper and his wife Malinda Niper. Peggy was a cherished grandmother to Michelle Smith and her husband Alex Smith, Michael DeLuca, Joseph Giordano, Timothy Niper, and Matthew Niper. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Nicholas Smith, Liam Smith, and Hayden Smith. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her kindness and warmth.

A woman of deep faith, Peggy dedicated much of her life to serving others through her church community. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Daughters for twenty-five years and actively participated in the Ministry of Consolation at St. Boniface Martyr Church. As a Eucharistic Minister at St. Boniface, she found great fulfillment in sharing her faith with others. Her love for quilting brought her into the fellowship of the St. Boniface Quilters, where she formed lasting friendships while creating beautiful works of art.

Peggys generosity extended beyond church walls—she was known for baking delicious carrot cakes for The Wicker Basket and Once Upon a Moose in Sea Cliff, NY. Her culinary talents were just one way she expressed love for those around her.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Whitting Funeral Home, located at 300 Glen Cove Avenue in Glen Head, New York.
