Born in Manhattan, NY, Marianne was the daughter of the late George Francis Degen, Jr. and Margaret Mary Degen. She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Robert and Thomas Degen. Marianne is survived by her brothers, George (Patricia) and Gerard (Linda) Degen; her cherished nieces, Courtney (Ezra) and Katie (Colin); her nephew, George aka Giff (Katie); and her nine great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom were a source of great joy and pride throughout her life.
Marianne was an active and dedicated member of St. Patrick's Church. She was a proud member of the Hibernians Catholic Women's Association and a long-time member of the Rosary Society. She found deep fulfillment in serving others and in her faith, which was at the heart of everything she did.
A lover of nature, Marianne had a passion for flowers and gardening. She took great pleasure in nurturing her plants and creating beautiful, vibrant spaces that reflected her caring spirit.
Marianne’s kindness, generosity, and love of life will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and beauty in all she did.
Visiting for Marianne will be held on Monday February 3rd from 4-8PM at Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head, NY, 11545. A mass will be held in her honor on Tuesday, February 4th at 10am at St. Patrick's Church, 235 Glen St, Glen Cove, NY 11542, with burial to follow at Locust Valley Cemetery, 117 Ryefield Rd, Locust Valley, NY 11560.
