Mary Cavello

February 7, 1920 — May 4, 2012

Mary Cavello was born in New York on February 07, 1920. Her father, a terrific baker, bought a store with an apartment above in Dyker Heights Brooklyn in the early 1920's. Gargiulo's Bakery was a neighborhood institution there for nearly 40 years. Mary married Dominick Cavello on June 21, 1942. After their marriage, they lived in the apartment along with her mother Adelina and father Guiseppe and siblings Ann, Adeline, Frances and Tony. Her father died during World War ll and her brother Tony returned after World War ll to continue baking fabulous italian bread and run the business. They continued to live there with their son Richard and their daughter Constance until the business was sold in 1960. Then Mary and Dominick bought their own home just a few blocks away and her mother and her sister Ann came to live with them until their passings. When her children were older, Mary worked as a receptionist on Wall Street until she retired. In 1988 Mary and Dominick moved to Tamarac, Florida where they enjoyed a wonderful 18 years. They were a great couple well liked by all there and they had a long and happy marriage of 65 years. They returned to the New York area in 2006 to be near their son and daughter and Dominick passed away in Amityville, NY in 2007. Most recently Mary lived in the wonderfully caring Inglemoor Nursing Facility in Livingston, New Jersey near her daughter. She was a brave, sweet and smart woman. Her last surviving sibling, her sister Frances died in 2009. She is survived by her devoted children Richard and his wife Marie and Constance Cavello McGoff. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: granddaughter Stacy Cavello, grandson Marc Cavello and grandsons Michael and Evan McGoff.
