ESCHWEI, MARY A., Passed into the arms of the Lord on December 7th. A lifelong resident of Sea Cliff she was actively involved with Audubon, St Boniface Church, St Vincent de Paul, and the Sea Cliff Museum. Mary was a kind and generous woman who gave of herself and her great talent to all who knew her. Her cousins Nancy Rose, Joan Nau, Barbara Kelley, Lynn Pappas, her sister-in-law Shelby Eschwei, her nieces Dori Wortman and Lori Creel, and their families survive Mary. A chemist by profession, Mary was a graduate of Albright College (Class of '46) and retired after a lifetime of work at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. She traveled the world with her Aunt Buppy (Betty Christ) and was well known for her fantastic photo slide shows from her various trips. Mary's miniature woodcarvings will live on in the homes of her many friends to whom she gave very special hand carved Christmas ornaments annually. A Memorial Service for Mary will be held at Saint Boniface Church, Sea Cliff, at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Internment immediately following at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury.
