Pedulla, Michael of Sea Cliff, NY died on December 22, 2016 at the age of 99. Michael was a true member of the "Greatest Generation". Born of Italian immigrants, Antonio and Elizabeth Pedulla from Calabria, Italy in 1917 in Rochester NY, he was a first generation American. Joining the Army Air Force in 1941 he flew 36 missions over Europe. A B-17 pilot with the Eighth Air Force, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters. Returning home after the war, he met and married Mary Virginia Kolk, the love of his life, of Sea Cliff N.Y.,in 1946, and remained in the Air Force until 1964 when he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Choosing to honor Mary's wish to retire to Sea Cliff where she was born, Michael completed his Masters Degree in Math at C.W. Post and proceeded to teach math at Locust Valley High School from 1965 until his retirement in 1986. He is still remembered by many of his students. Michael is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Virginia and three children, Virginia Johnson who does research at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, Michael Pedulla Jr who owns Pedulla Guitars in Duxbury Massachusetts and Theodore Pedulla, software developer for Almeds in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He has 4 grandchildren, Travis Johnson, Michael Pedulla III, Greyson Pedulla and Kathryn Pedulla and one great grandchild, Olivia Johnson.
