It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mammy, formally known as Molly Hedgecock, whose fierce Irish spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Mammy left us peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on October 24, 2024.
Mammy brought joy and laughter into every room with her infectious sense of humor and warm heart. She had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcomed and cherished. Whether you needed a listening ear or wise advice, Mammy was always there, ready to lend a hand or share her invaluable experiences.
Mammy was renowned for her delicious banana bread, a treat that brought friends and family together, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Her love for her grandchildren knew no bounds; she was their greatest supporter and their biggest fan, lighting up their lives with her unwavering affection and encouragement.
Mammy's legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege to know her. She is survived by her husband, Donald Hedgecock. Her children: the late Julie Monarchio, Jennifer Leahy (Michael Leahy), and MaryEllen Clarke (Gregory Clarke). Proud Mammy to Molly, Louis (Annie), Liam, Jacqueline, Michael, Emily, Patrick and William. as well as her many friends who will forever carry her spirit with them.
In honor of Mammy's vibrant life, we invite all who knew her to join us in celebrating her memory with Visiting Saturday Nov 2nd, 9:30-10:30, Whitting Funeral Home 300 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head, NY., 11545. Funeral Mass to follow 11am St. Peter of Alcantara Church, Port Washington, NY. Interment at Locust Valley Cemetery, Locust Valley, NY. Let us gather to share stories and laughter - just the way she would have wanted it.
