Natalie Zukowa

November 26, 1937 — April 14, 2022

Natalie Zukowa, a long-time resident of Sea Cliff, passed away on April 14th at her home. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 and remained in remission until quite recently. A lover of writing and the theatre, Natalie was, under the name Natalie Larkmont, a founding director of the Sea Cliff players, an amateur thespian society that produced classic and original works by local artists. At the time of her passing, Natalie was working on a play, as well as a novel. Other hobbies included reading, travel, skiing, hiking with the Appalachian Mountain Club, volleyball and sailing. Natalie, a World War II survivor, emigrated to the United States in the early 1950s, with her family, the late George and Lydia Zubov, Alla Gutoff, and Katherine Andrew, all of whom were displaced persons from Ukraine. The family first settled in Nyack, where Natalie graduated from Nyack High School (1957), then Sea Cliff, in the early 1960s. Natalie held a series of administrative positions both in New York City, and Nassau County, including computerizing the New York Public Library catalog, and bank teller work at Morgan Guaranty Trust Company. She retired from the local Pall Corporation in the early 2000s. Natalie is survived by her brother-in-law, Daniel Gutoff, her niece, Anita Gutoff Bushell and her husband, Bohdan Bushell, and their children, Niko Lilly Bushell, and Maya Lydia Bushell. Natalie loved the village of Sea Cliff and was an avid patron of the local library. In addition, The Mutual Concerns Senior Lunch provided Natalie with sustenance, connection, and community in her later years. A celebration of Natalie’s life is planned for mid-June. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mutual Concerns Committee, post office box 164, Sea Cliff, NY, 11579. Further information at www.whitting.com
