Ostap Omelian Wengerchuk passed away on Saturday, April 30 at Southampton Hospital, NY. Ostap was born May 16, 1943 in Berlin, Germany. He was active in the Glen Cove Senior Center, Knights of Columbus, and Ukrainian-American organizations in NY and Florida.
The wake will take place Friday, May 6, from 4:30-8 PM at the Whitting Funeral Home located at 300 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head, NY. The Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, May 7, at 9:30 AM at St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church, 30 East 7th Street, New York, NY, followed by burial at St. Andrew Cemetery in South Bound Brook, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ukrainian Catholic Education Foundation to support the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv. Checks can be made out to UCEF and sent to 2247 W. Chicago Ave., Chicago, IL 60622 or donations can be made on line at www.UCEF.org.
He is survived by :
Sisters: Irene Andreadis, with husband Nicolas and children Larysa and Nicolas;
Lydia Czorny Matiaszek, with husband Petro, and daughter Ksenia;
Sister-in-law: Oksana Wengerchuk
Niece: Andrea Young with husband Bryan
and Family in the US, Canada and Ukraine
