Raymond G. Mcdonald

Raymond  G. McDonald of Glen Head, NY went home to Our Lord on June 20, 2017. Loving son of Andrew and Lillian McDonald. Beloved husband to his bride of 59 years, Barbara. Loving father of Kevin (Marie) and Michael (Donna).  Cherished grandfather to Katie, Murphy, Conor, Caroline, Kevin Patrick and Spencer.  Devoted brother of Colette and the late Vincent, Dorothy, Robert, Gerard, Jim and Larry. Devoted uncle to numerous amazing nieces and nephews. He was the most loyal of friends and a proud Flushing native. Ray was a success in life and business. A 1953 graduate of Saint Bonaventure University as well as New York University (MBA) in 1955.  He was a Certified Life Underwriter and a Vice President of the Johnson & Higgins Brokerage firm located on Wall Street. Following his retirement, Ray was a member of the Saint Francis Hospital ‘Brave Hearts' and was a dedicated volunteer. He was also a 51-year active member of Saint Boniface Martyr Church in Sea Cliff. "Big Ray" was a force of nature who touched many lives. He was a proud Brooklyn Dodger fan, incredibly vocal NY Giants fan (and season ticket holder) as well as an enthusiastic golfer who loved his long walks on any course. He loved his time on the water and fish feared him. He will be deeply missed.
Visiting hours will be Friday, June 23, 2017 from 4-8 pm at Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head, NY  11545 www.whitting.com  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Boniface Martyr Church, Sea Cliff, NY on Saturday June 24th at 9:45am.  The burial will follow at Mount St. Mary's Cemetery, Flushing, NY. Donations may be made in his memory to the Glenwood Landing Fire Co., St. Francis Hospital Brave Hearts or The Hospice Care Network (99 Sunnyside Blvd Extension, Woodbury NY 11797-2946).
