Robert (Bob) Frederick Mueller of Ronkonkoma, NY (Formerly of Glenwood Landing, NY) passed away on November 20th, 2023 at age 82.
Bob was born and raised on Elm Avenue in Glen Cove, NY. A house built by his grandfather. Robert (Bob) was the son of the late Karl Mueller and Margaret (Stanco) Mueller, and brother of late Karl Mueller. Bob’s father was an upholster and owned a local shop (Karl Mueller Upholstery at 6 Forest Ave, Glen Cove, NY). Often, his father would take custom orders from Bob’s teachers to ensure a passing grade. Bob’s Father passed away when Bob was just 14. His brother Karl then took over the upholstery business.
Bob graduated from Glen Cove Schools in 1959. He served in the US Army from 1963-1965, basic training in Fort Dix, and transferred to Fort Devens, MA for Advanced Infantry Training. Since Bob was a fast typist he was moved to Company Clerk . In January 1964, with a 3-day leave from the Army, Phyllis and Bob got married. He returned home and attended Nassau Community College at night while working at Grumman’s during the day. They welcomed the birth of his oldest daughter, Michele, then a short 2 ½ years later their daughter, Laurie. Bob continued his education at night earning his Master’s Degree at Adelphi University. They then welcomed their youngest daughter, Yvonne. Bob started working for Franklin National Bank (EAB) as a Computer Programmer. After many years at Franklin National Bank, he accepted a job at Publisher’s Clearing House as a Systems Analyst, where he retired in 2016.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis of almost 60 years (January 2024). His loving daughters Michele, Laurie and Yvonne. Cherished grandfather of Christine, Samantha, Alison, Abigail & Annabelle Lee. Great grandfather to Christian, Kevin & Nash. Bob adored his family and NEVER EVER passed up a time for a family gathering. As he knew there would be fun times spent playing a game of Rummikub, Trouble, or Candy Land. These games entitled you to put your name on the trophy until the next winner. All games would be followed by an email the next day by Bob to the “non-winners” or “winners” recapping the games. He had his own game piece (a small pebble) in the game Trouble which he called “The Rock” trying to intimidate the other players! He often invented his own games (hide the candle) which only he knew the rules that day. He enjoyed every tea party with each grandchild and watching them unwrap the aluminum foiled gift he found around the house. Bob enjoyed playing in the yard with his grandchildren, soccer, baseball & badminton and the ever popular see how many times you can get the tennis ball to bounce on the roof of the house before it falls off. He spent time traveling with Phyllis to their homes in Westfield, MA and Roxbury, NY, . He also enjoyed traveling to London, Puerto Rico and especially enjoyed the time spent visiting his daughter and granddaughter in Gilbert, AZ.
He would attend family functions and make you laugh. He would make you feel there is nothing you can’t handle. As there was always a smile on his face.
Bob attended the Sea Cliff Gospel as an Elder and once moved to Ronkonkoma, attended Bohemia Church. He was a strong believer in God’s will and often told others
“God is good…all the time. All the time…God is good”
Bob will be missed deeply by his family and friends. We know God has welcomed him with open arms in heaven.
