It is with great sadness that the family of Robert (Robbie) McCormack announces his passing on Saturday April 25, 2020. Robbie was born March 15, 1955 in Navan Co. Meath Ireland to Catherine (Ita) and the late Thomas (Tony) McCormack. In 1979, Robbie married Kathleen (Hynes) before buying a home and planting their family's roots in Sea Cliff, NY. They welcomed two beautiful children, Thomas and Caroline in the years that followed. Robbie retired from the Great Neck Water Authority after 32 years of service. He also enjoyed his time working at the Meadowbrook Country Club for more than 30 years. Robbie had a sincere passion for Ireland. He crossed the Atlantic 88 times to visit family and friends in the town he loved so well. He was extremely active in the Irish community in New York. He was the president of the Meath Association in New York for 32 years. He represented Meath in the United Irish Counties Association as well as in the NYC Inter-county annual golf tournament. He participated in organizing the annual New York City St. Patrick's Day parade and proudly led his county up 5th Avenue each year. Robbie was president of the Irish American Golf Club for 10 years. He thoroughly enjoyed his time spent on the golf course traveling across the United States and throughout most counties in Ireland. He will be laid to rest in his beloved hometown. Robbie will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kathleen; his children Thomas (Helen), Caroline (Jimmy) and granddaughter Faye. His adoring mother Ita; his cherished siblings Barry (Joan), Martin (Jacqueline), Elaine (Willie), Maria (Derek), Fiona; as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
