Theresa D Galvin

Theresa D. Galvin passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late James P. Galvin, and dear mother of Eileen Gilson, Ann Galvin and Maureen Kiggins, mother-in-law of Kevin Gilson, and devoted grandmother of Liam, Kyra, and Aidan Kiggins.

She grew up in East Norwich, NY, daughter of John Thomas and Della Hurley, and is predeceased by her siblings, Ann M. Novakoski, Eileen Hurley, James Hurley, and Rev. Msgr. Daniel J. Hurley. She attended St. Dominic’s in Oyster Bay through high school followed by St. John’s University where she majored in English.

In her twenties, she worked summers in the Pocono Mountains, an area that she grew to love, honeymooned there and took family vacations there. She went on to live and work in New York City at a large insurance firm where she met her future husband before returning to Long Island to raise children near immediate and extended family. After marrying and having her first child, she decided to stay home, putting all her energy into maintaining her home and taking care of her children. She was a tremendous seamstress, cook and avid baker and her creations are remembered by all! She introduced her children to her love of the beach at Stehli’s in Bayville, where she swam since childhood. Her love for animals was also a large part of her life.

She remained a faithful member of St. Boniface parish for more than 56 years.
