Thomas Bruce Trousdell III, 91, of Ormond Beach, entered into rest March 9, 2023. Thomas was born in Glen Cove, New York on October 6, 1931, to Thomas and Lea Verne Trousdell. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a Nassau County Fire Marshall as well as a long-time member of the Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Fire Department Bowling League.
Thomas was an avid motorcyclist and was a member of The Nassau County Fire Riders. Tom thoroughly enjoyed playing golf in his retirement years.
Thomas is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Lou Trousdell, his daughter Tracy, his grandson, Dylan, and his sister, Carol Flege.
Thomas is survived by his daughter, Joyce (the late Patrick) Dunn, his son, Thomas (Claudia) Trousdell IV, his grandchildren, Emily (Diego), Scott (Emily), Thomas, Jennifer, Alyssa, Joseph, and Ian, his great-grandchildren, Jordan, Alma, and Colin, his brother, Richard Trousdell, his step- siblings, Michael Grella, and Susan Hayward, his companion of many years, Andrea Rowan, and many other relatives and friends.
Thomas was a great man who was always available to help anyone in need, including being a hospice volunteer and working in the local soup kitchen during the holidays. He was the dearest friend to many people and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 17, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head, NY 11545.
Firematic Services will held on Friday, March 17, at 8:00 PM at Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head, NY.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 18, at 10:00 AM at St. Boniface Martyr Church, Sea Cliff, NY.
Interment will follow at Locust Valley Cemetery, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Halifax Health online or via mail (see information below).
