Walter W. Durr

Walter (Billy) Durr of Glen Head NY, beloved husband of Diane, loving father to Nicole, Scott, Anthony and loving Grandfather to Grace and Landon passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the age of 76.

Born and raised in Queens, NY, Billy attended military school and was an accomplished athlete in both baseball and football during his high school years, going on to earn a scholarship to play football at the University of Illinois. Billy graduated with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and followed his passion for flying by joining the Navy and becoming a Pilot. He served our country proudly as Naval Aviator and was honorably discharged four years later.

After being discharged, Bill returned home to Bayside, NY where he met his soulmate, Diane. After two years Diane and Bill were married and eventually moved to Glen Head, NY where they raised their two children, Scott and Nicole. Bill went on to be a successful VP and CEO in the medical services industries, often being recognized by any company he worked at for his accomplishments.

When Bill wasn’t working, he would enjoy fishing, golfing or simply just relaxing watching the Giants on Sundays. Most of all, he enjoyed taking walks with the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Diane, as much as he could.

Above all else, he loved his family more than any father ever could. Whether it was family vacation to Montauk, celebrating Christmas Eve with his niece and nephews or just family dinner on a Sunday afternoon, he was always the happiest surrounded by his family.

He was loved so much and will be missed by all who knew him.
